Kisatchie-Delta Regional Planning & Development District, State Planning District 6, includes the parishes of Avoyelles, Catahoula, Concordia, Grant, LaSalle, Rapides, Vernon and Winn.  In conjunction we the other planning and development districts, we work together to advance the development of Louisiana. Although each region has unique attributes and needs, all eight districts share common concerns and opportunities. The combination of the critical mass of the eight regions, combined with the strengths of each, set LAPDD apart as a unique asset in Louisiana.

Created in 1967 as the first Louisiana regional planning and development district, the agency’s initial focus was regional economic development and early on included inventory of historical sites (supporting this region’s first National Register of Historic Places site, the Kent House). Programming has evolved to include agency focus on community economic development, business and workforce development, lending, contracting and competitiveness, and special-purpose planning. We are a quasi-governmental, non-profit planning and development agency serving the constituencies and local governments of both municipalities and parishes.

KD, our planning district counterparts, and LAPDD were created through legislative act:  “It is the purpose of this act to facilitate intergovernmental cooperation and to insure the orderly and harmonious coordination of state, federal, and local comprehensive planning, and development programs for the solution and resolution of economic, social, physical, and governmental problems of the state and its citizens by providing for the creation and recognition of regional planning and development commissions.”

We are periodically updating the construction of this site, so we would direct you to please contact us at 318-487-5454 or email kdbiz@kricket.net with any specific questions.
